Creating a Geographical Base Page

Pages are a very flexible content type that allows you the flexibility to configure any set of content fields that you need to build a page (or even a section of a page). Pages can be made into Page Types where you can reuse the same page template repeatedly - perfect for things like SEO landing pages, Events Pages, News Pages, About Us Pages, etc.

Whether you’re hosting a tour or helping people book their dream vacation, a travel landing page is the page a visitor will land on when they’re looking to book your services.

Below, you will find an example of a page type that is designed to help your content team create destination landing pages or geographic-based pages. This page can showcase live flight information being powered by your own database combined with content that comes from ButterCMS. You can build the page to show information related to cities you feature

Step 1: Build your set of components

This will serve as a template for the page you are building. In this example, we will be adding the following fields to your component:

  • SEO (Component)
  • Body (Component Picker - Allows your content team to compose landing pages using any set of components in any order that they want.)
    • Hero (Component)
    • FAQ (Component)
    • About City (Component)

Step 2: Create your first geographical-based page

Now that we built out our page, let's add some content.

Using a component picker gives your content team the flexibility to compose a landing page using any set of components in any order that they want without having to involve your dev team.

Step 3: Go back and edit the schema to save it as a page type:

Step 4: Type in a name for your page type and click on the 'Save as a Page Type' button:

Step 5: Continue creating content for each of the different landing pages using the page template we just created.

To summarize, you can use ButterCMS to add destination landing pages or geographic-based pages to your website. Using ButterCMS Pages allows you to configure any set of content fields that you need to build a page (or even a section of a page). This can be converted into a page type so you can use the same template repeatedly.
