Better control over your post HTML

Posted by Jake Lumetta on March 24, 2016

Today we're excited to release one of your most requested features...

Customizable HTML

We aim to make creating content on Butter a simple, clean, and enjoyable experience. It's why the UI of our editor focuses on your content and is not cluttered with buttons, controls, and configuration. And 99% of the time, this is exactly what you want. However, there are times when you just need to add some unique functionality within a post. For example, being able to embed a custom survey or ad serving code.

Well today you now have full access to the HTML of your posts. When composing a post, you'll see a "HTML" tab below the editor.

Clicking that tab loads the raw HTML of the post and takes you into a split screen mode where as you edit the raw HTML, you see a live preview of what it will look like.

We recommend using the HTML mode for embedding custom HTML that you otherwise could not achieve using the WYSIWYG editor. For everything else (text formatting, embedding images/video/code using our Iframely integration, code snippets), the WYSIWYG editor will be a much better experience.

We hope you enjoy this new feature and keep the feedback coming, we appreciate it!

Make sure you receive the freshest Butter product updates.
