Butter is one of those "just show it" products. Since it's so insanely easy to use to build a blog, we're doing a series called Butter Makeover where we take some of our favorite websites and remake their blog using Butter. Often these sites are running their blogs on Wordpress/Tumblr/etc so we wanted to give a glimpse of how good their blog could look if they switched to Butter.
Product Hunt Makeover
First up is the super popular Product Hunt. They're a great first candidate because the website is so cleanly designed it's a shame their blog doesn't get to take advantage of this great design.
Let's take a sneak peak into what their Tumblr blog could look like if it ran on Butter.
Don't have time to watch the video? Here's a screenshot Butter-y Product Hunt blog.
Keep in mind this was done in under 60 seconds so we only scratched the surface of what is possible with Butter.
This was a really fun experiment. We hope it gave you a better sense of what it's like to use Butter and how easy it is to get up and running.
One of the biggest benefits of Butter is your blog lives within your existing application layout. So it not only looks great but instantly benefits from features built into the header of the site. In the case of Product Hunt, they have a slick search box that allows people to dive right into their community. This search box is lost on their current Tumblr blog, this wouldn't happen if their blog ran on Butter (*wink wink nudge nudge*).
A final huge benefit of Butter is SEO because the blog lives on the main domain. In the case of ProductHunt their blog URL would be www.producthunt.com/blog, instead of blog.producthunt.com.
