Docs, Open Source, and Guides. Oh My!

Posted by Jake Lumetta on March 9, 2016

Behind the scenes at Butter, we've been churning away at improving our documentation to make setting up Butter even easier.  Today we have a couple exciting announcements.

New Docs

First, we completely reorganized our docs with examples and getting started guides for Django, Rails, and Sinatra. We also provide a CSS Styling guide which makes it easy to take advantage of new features like image alignment and code snippets

We've also launched our in-depth REST API Docs to help you with doing deeper custom integrations with our API.

Open Source

Second, we officially open sourced several repositories and example apps on our GitHub ButterCMS page:

  • Our revamped Ruby on Rails Blog Gem that makes it much easier to customize and extend Butter within your own native Rails application.
  • Our official Ruby Blog Client (which the Rails Gem leverages) to make integrating Butter into any Ruby-based framework (Sinatra, etc) a snap.
  • And finally our example Sinatra blog application which uses Butter for it's blog.

What's Next?

Thanks to the community for great feedback on these items. Please let us know what languages and frameworks you'd like us to build clients and guides for next. Your input helps shape our roadmap!

Make sure you receive the freshest Butter product updates.
